Race Day Information
On Rottnest Island
We are very grateful to Wadjemup / Rottnest Island for allowing us to start our event from this beautiful location. Rottnest Island is a protected nature reserve. Please be respectful of the island and its guests.
We have worked very hard with Rottnest Island over the last 20 years to make this a successful event and your help is appreciated. Please follow the rules as requested by Rottnest Island:
- Please do not litter
- All craft must be put on the BEACH, not on the grass.
- Do not enter the sand dunes
- Footwear must be worn at all times when unloading the barge from Main Jetty.
- Follow the witches’ hats and the direction of staff at all times when unloading the barge.
- Do not take pool noodles to the island as we must minimise rubbish. If you do, you must have someone to bring them back for you.
What to take to Rottnest Island
- Only take what you will need for the race, as we have no way of getting your gear back.
- Take all your mandatory equipment.
- Remember tools to attach your rudder to ski if it was taken off for the barge trip.
- Your paddle!
Unloading the Barge
When you arrive on Rottnest Island you must get your craft off the barge if your craft is on it. The barge will be at the Main Jetty where the ferries arrive. You are responsible for looking after your own craft.
Check-In Before 10am
On race day you will be required to “check-in” via the ipads to our timing and safety system prior to 10am. This confirms you are racing in the event.
Check-in will commence on the Rottnest Fast Ferry going over to Rottnest Island and continue on the island. We will be located in the same position as last year, on the grass area on the left as you walk off the ferry wharf.
Race Briefing
This year there will be no race briefing on Friday evening. Instead this will take place on Rottnest Island prior to the race. An email will be sent out prior to the race with any other important information.
Race Briefing will take place near where check-in is.
Please listen carefully at the race briefing for instructions on where and when the race will start
