Oceanpaddler offers a range of tuition options to assist you with your paddling goals.

Oceanpaddler’s Dean Gardiner and Yanda Morison together have over 20 years of paddling experience to share with you. Whether you are wishing to improve your basic paddling stroke or develop ocean paddling skills we have the resources to help!

Dean Gardiner has been Australia’s most successful ocean paddler for nearly two decades. He is regarded as the best downwind paddler by his peers with his reputation backed up by outstanding results including 9 times Molokai World Surf Ski Champion. Yanda Morison has represented Australia in Sprint Kayaking at two Olympic Games and since retirement from Olympic competition after Sydney 2000 turned to Ocean paddling where her passion now lies. Dean specialises in teaching ocean paddling skills whilst Yanda’s expertise lies in technique development.

Indoor Technique Lessons

The indoor technique lesson is held on the KayakPro Paddling Ergometer (machine) in front of a mirror, where the paddler can watch and correct their stroke. This has proved to be the most successful way initially to improve your technique. This can then be followed by an On Water Technique Lesson. The indoor session is conducted at the Oceanpaddler office located in Brookvale.

Cost: 

• $75 for 30mins solo
• $125 for 30mins for 2 people share

On-Water Technique Lessons

The on-water technique lesson is held on Middle Harbour (generally from Clontarf) or at Narrabeen Lake. This session will concentrate on developing the correct technique for ocean paddling and understanding how to move your ski faster.

Cost: 

• $150 for 1 hr solo
• $200 for 1 hr 2 people
• $240 for 1 hr 3 people
• We can organise separate pricing for larger group such as surf clubs, kayak clubs and paddling groups

On-Water Ocean Skills Lessons

An on-water paddling lesson designed specifically to improve ocean paddling skills including balance, paddling in rough water, paddling around headlands and catching runners.

Cost: 

• $150 for 1 hr solo
• $200 for 1 hr 2 people
• 240 for 1 hr 3 people
• We can organise separate pricing for larger group such as surf clubs, kayak clubs and paddling groups

On-Water Super Session

Paddle on a double Fenn Elite ski with Dean Gardiner in the ocean for a 1.5hr ‘Super Session’. Be pushed outside of your comfort zone, learn how to challenge the ocean, catch runners and handle the chop. A rare opportunity to paddle with one of the worlds best ocean paddlers.

Cost: $350 for 1.5 hours
