A Shaw and Partners WA Race Week Event
After a successful debut in 2025, the Shaw and Partners Downwind International returns in 2026 as part of Shaw and Partners WA Race Week — now including all singles and double craft categories as well as the popular prone division.
Competitors will take full advantage of Perth’s world-renowned sea breezes and classic downwind conditions in a fast, fun and challenging race along the spectacular WA coastline.
The event will start at 5pm on the evening of Thursday 19th November 2026.
Open to all categories!
The Course
Start: City Beach
Finish: Sorrento Beach
Time: 5pm
Distance: 12km
The course will stay within 200m of the beach and will be marked by a buoy at Trigg which competitors must pass to the right of.

- SLSA Spec Surf Ski – all genders, all ages
- OC2 – all genders, all ages
*Age Category is based on your age as of 31st December 2026.
Important note on Categories
There must be at least 5 competitors in your category to be eligible for prize money and prizes. Where there are less than 5, those competitors will be moved to the Open category.

Introducing a brand-new addition to the Shaw and Partners WA Race Week: the Shaw and Partners Downwind International with $30,000 in Cash and Prizes up for grabs.
For the first time ever we will see a dedicated event for prone paddleboards and double surf skis showcasing these two disciplines. The race will take advantage of Perth’s world-renowned sea breezes and downwind conditions. The event offers a fast, fun, and challenging race along the stunning WA coastline on the afternoon of Sunday 23rd November.
Prone athletes can compete on either 12ft or 10’6 SLSA spec prone paddleboards, while double surf ski teams can enter in men’s, women’s, mixed, SLSA spec ski and combined age categories, offering a division for every pairing.
*Please note that this race is not included in the Shaw and Partners WA Race Week Point Score.

This unique event brings together prone paddleboards and double surf skis in a dedicated showcase for these two high-energy disciplines. Competitors will take full advantage of Perth’s world-renowned sea breezes and classic downwind conditions in a fast, fun and challenging race along the spectacular WA coastline.
Prone athletes can compete on either 12ft or 10’6 SLSA-spec paddleboards, while double surf ski teams can enter across a wide range of divisions including men’s, women’s, mixed, SLSA-spec ski and combined age categories – ensuring an option for every pairing.
The Shaw and Partners Downwind International continues to deliver an action-packed addition to WA Race Week, celebrating teamwork, endurance and pure downwind speed.
