Course
- Competitors are to remain within Lavender Bay, where they will be marshalled prior to the start line.
- Following the start, competitors will paddle towards a designated safety vessel positioned in Athol Bay, before Bradleys Head. Competitors must pass to the left of this safety vessel, keeping the vessel on their right-hand side.
- After passing the safety vessel, competitors will continue towards Bradleys Head.
- Competitors must keep well clear of the shipping channel between Bradleys Head and Middle Head. To remain outside the channel, all green channel markers in this section of the course must be kept on your right-hand side. Failure to comply with this instruction may result in disqualification.
- From Middle Head, competitors will paddle towards Dobroyd Head and must keep the black and yellow buoy located east of Dobroyd Head on their right-hand side (that is, pass to the left of the buoy).
- After rounding the buoy, competitors should proceed directly to the finish line at Manly Wharf, following any directions provided by race officials.
- Competitors will finish with a short run up the beach to the finish line.
Safety Instructions
- Please follow all directions given by race officials, safety personnel and official vessels at all times.
- Stay well clear of larger vessels operating within Sydney Harbour, including ferries, commercial vessels and other powered craft.
- Competitors are reminded that Sydney Harbour remains open to normal marine traffic during the event. It is the responsibility of each participant to paddle safely, remain alert to changing conditions and exercise caution at all times.
- If you require assistance during the event, remain with your craft where possible and attract the attention of the nearest safety vessel by placing your paddle in the air.
- If you withdraw from the race for any reason, you must notify a race official or safety vessel immediately.
- The event contact safety number is 0422 554 965. We recommend saving this in your mobile phone and taking your phone with you during the race in a water proof case.
Course Modification
Should conditions not be favourable for the usual course then the event may change to a triangular course from Manly Wharf. Any changes to the course will be communicated to all registered competitors prior to race day.
