but a dot
among the half-acre of bodies and boats.
THE fit and lean strut and prance;
the languid repose beside their plastic pieces
like marsupial Modiglianis…
SOON converging boats dance in random particle motion
in the start’s steely shadow…
INSTANT maelstrom of fluid energy and spearing projectiles.
MINDS focus on balance and power, Nature’s beauty in seeming oblivion.
CLUMPS and streaks of bobbing colour
ant-trail towards their goal, running with wind and whitecaps.
HULLS hit the sand
ejecting crew who run (some clumsily)
to the timing pad’s welcome blue.
MINDS relax
bodies transform
laughter and talk.
WE made it!
