IMPORTANT CHANGES TO ‘THE DOCTOR’ RACE
After much deliberation with numerous bodies and individuals we have made the difficult decision to reverse the course. Our decision has been made for two reasons:
- Off shore winds predicted all day on the 16th
- Extraordinary amount of shipping movements between the afternoon hours on the 16th.
The Doctor race on Sat 16th Jan will now run from PORT BEACH, FREMANTLE to ROTTNEST.
Start Location: Port Beach Fremantle (outside Salt on the Beach restaurant)
Start times
7.00am – Stand-ups and paddleboards
8.00am – OC1’s, Plastics and female ski paddlers
8.15am – Male surf ski paddlers
These times may be adjusted slightly to suit Ports requirements.
**Sign in from 6am. You must mark your name off and pick up timing chips before race start.
Ski & Passenger Transport back to mainland
Rottnest Fast Ferries are putting a return service on at 11.20am from Rottnest. They will be honouring your tickets if you have booked to go to Rottnest as part of the race deal. If you had pre booked your ski on the ferry then you can take this with you. This ferry will return to Hillarys Marina.
We will have a boat that will transport craft back from Rottnest to Fremantle if you have booked with us.
The boat will return to Endeavour Wharf Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour News Rd, Fremantle.
- All rudders must be taken out of skis, outriggers and boards. Amas must be removed from outriggers.
- Competitors must supply 2 straps to tie craft on.
Important Race Information:
- Lifejackets must be worn during the race. Leashes must be attached to person and craft
- Flare must be carried on craft
- Ensure that you hydrate before the race
- Take plenty of water with you for during the race
Registration – Friday 15th Jan (no change)

6.00pm – 8.00pm – Registration for all pre online competitors and late entries. If you have not already entered you can at this time.
6.00pm – Dinner available. $8 Curry night. All competitors will receive a FREE beer thanks to our sponsor PURE BLONDE (vouchers will be provided in rego bags)
6.30pm – Official welcoming and briefing
Presentation Evening – Sat 16th Jan

6.00pm onwards

Sun 17th Jan – Finn Kayaks Coastal Challenge
You can register on Friday evening or on Sunday morning at the start from 11am.
Start will be at Port Beach Fremantle (outside Salt on the Beach restaurant)
Start time: 12pm
Finish at Sorrento Beach SLSC
Presentations: from 3pm Sorrento Beach SLSC
