Tomorrow we pay tribute to our great friend of ocean paddling, Charles Stewart.
Charles sadly passed away in January 2016 after suffering a heart attack shortly after finishing an ocean paddle. A good friend to so many in the paddling community, Charles’ legacy continues to be celebrated each year.
Thank you for joining us tomorrow as we honour his memory with this special memorial paddle.
Thank you for entering the Charles Stewart Memorial Cup “The Chucky ” that will take place tomorrow Saturday 30th August. An event of the Shaw and Partners Australian Ocean Racing Series.
The race will be going ahead as planned but 1 hour earlier with 9am start.
Conditions are looking pretty flat for tomorrow’s race. Strong offshore winds will keep the course very close to shore. We are opting not to go out to sea via the Makaha course as the open water will be exposed to strong offshore winds.
The course will be a lap course and once again depending on actual conditions, the length and number of each lap will be decided on the day.
Short course will be 6k approx and long 12k approx.
All event activities will take place at Fishermans Beach, Collaroy.
7.30 – 8.30am – Registration
8.45am – Event Briefing
9.00am – Race Start – Start waves will be advised at Race Briefing.

Please ensure you are familiar with the Rules and Equipment for the event as outlined here. Remember Lifejackets (hi-vis / brightly coloured) and leashes compulsory.
