The AORS will be following the International Canoe Federation (ICF) racing categories for single skis (in 10yr increments only for the Over 40 and above age groups).
Primary Categories (Male and Female)
Secondary Categories
All Ski primary category competitors are automatically entered in the Ski Overall secondary category. For example a Junior, Over 40 Ski or SLSA Spec Ski competitor is also entered in the Ski Overall secondary category. As per previous years, Oceanpaddler will use Ski Overall results when presenting results for the Ski Open results.
Competitors age is as of 31/12/2025. That is the age bracket the competitor is turning in the 2025 calendar year.
For example: The first year a 15-18yrs Surf Ski competitor can compete is the year in which his/her 15th birthday falls and the last year he/she may compete in that category is the year in which his/her 18th birthday falls. That is they must be 15-18yrs as of 31/12/2025.
Competitors can only enter one category. For example a 50 year old entered in the SLSA Spec Ski primary category is not eligible for Over 50 Ski points and prizes, only SLSA Spec Ski primary category and Ski Overall secondary category.
There are 12 events in the AORS Series.
Each event has a star value of either 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 Stars with the points starting from 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 and 5000 respectively.
Competitors will be awarded points per race based on the star rating of the event and their position in the race.
The total accumulative points across all events will be used to determine the leaderboard and overall placing in the AORS.

Competitors will be awarded points per race based on the star rating of the event and their position in the race. See below for a breakdown of the points. (Please note that for double categories the points for a 2 Star and 3 Star event are the same starting at 2000 points).
Competitors can enter as many AORS events as they wish, however, at the end of the series your top results from the following will be used to calculate overall points.
For Single Craft categories:
The total points of these 8 events will give your Total AORS points and overall ranking for the series.
You must race in a minimum of 5 x 1 Star and 3 x 2 / 3 Star events to be eligible for Overall AORS Rankings in the single categories.
For Double Craft categories:
The total points of these 4 events will give your Total AORS points and overall ranking for the series.
You must race in a minimum of 3 x 1 Star and 1 x 2 / 3 Star event to be eligible for Overall AORS Rankings in the double categories.
Equal Points
If two or more single competitors/double teams end up on the same overall AORS point score the result from The Doctor will decide the winner. If neither competitor raced in The Doctor then we will use the 20 Beaches followed by Forster Ocean Classic result.single
